Transfusion Business
Blood tranfusion business in JMS began with the manufacture and sale of blood transfusion set in 1965, the year when the company was founded, and then began manufacturing and selling blood bags in Japan and overseas in 1969 and 1981, respectively. JMS has been contributing to safe blood transfusion for nearly 60 years and its work is widely recognized around the world.
In the 21st century, leukocyte reduction from transfusion medicine for safe blood transfusions has become widespread around the world, and the pioneer of leuko reduction technology was the Sepacell™ filter, developed by Asahi Kasei Medical Co., Ltd. in the 1980s. Leukocyte reduction filter is essential for safe blood transfusions, and Asahi Kasei Medical's Sepacell™ filters hold the world's largest market share even today. JMS group, which operates a global blood transfusion business, acquired a manufactures of leukocyte reduction filter in China from Asahi Kasei Medical Co., Ltd. in 2023 in order to further develop own blood transfusion business. By combining the world's most trusted Sepacell™ brand leukocyte reduction filter with JMS's disposable medical devices, we will provide new value and contribute to the global blood transfusion business.
